About me

Australian Environment, Climate and Sustainability Writer

Hi, I’m Justine – an environmental scientist turned writer.

I live on Bundjalung Country in the Clarence Valley (Northern Rivers NSW), and work remotely with good-hearted clients and purpose-driven organisations across Australia.

I’m a nature lover, tiny garden grower, dedicated tea drinker and learn-as-I-go mum. I live in a country town with my husband and daughter. I’m also part of the dirtgirlworld team – a sun-powered, hot-house of creative storytellers dedicated to growing a better planet for children, families and communities.

At the heart of it all, I just love a good story. Because I believe that stories can change our world.

Above all, I love using the power of words as a force for good. For me, it’s just second nature.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of writing and creating content for organisations including WWF-Australia, mememe productions, NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service, NSW Environment Protection Authority, WorkForClimate and AgriFutures Australia. My work includes blog posts, articles, website copy, educational curriculum, emails, newsletters and campaign content.

My content has reached national audiences through campaigns, programs and publications – from children’s environmental education, to climate campaigns and wildlife conservation, to stories about regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, clean energy and climate investment.

With a deep love of place and landscape, I’ve also helped showcase unique Australian destinations through storytelling and content for Clarence Valley Tourism, Coffs Coast Tourism, and Wolgan Valley in the Greater Blue Mountains.

My feature articles have been published in Australian TravellerSBS FoodOutbackABC Organic Gardener, Oak Magazine, Time to Roam, Go Camping and City Permaculture.

Why work with me?

I have a degree in environmental science and bring over 20 years of experience in climate, environment, sustainability & communications.

I also hold a graduate certificate in environmental education, which means I understand how to educate and motivate different audiences to change their behaviours and take action to help our environment.

My career began at Australia’s first Federal Government climate change agency, focusing on industry emissions reporting before expanding into climate science and agriculture. I’ve since worked in policy, projects and communications roles in both state and federal government.

I’ve held roles focussed on renewable energy, sustainability, water policy, national parks, threatened species, and the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage.

I started my business to help purpose-driven people and organisations communicate the solutions we need for a brighter, more regenerative future.

It’s time to create something good together.

I’m a proud supporter of the Northern Rivers Women’s Giving Circle. Together, we are a collective of passionate women taking action to tackle local disadvantage in our communities.
