My name is Justine and I’m a freelance writer and editor specialising in the environment, sustainability, food, farming, gardening, lifestyle and travel. I’ve written articles for SBS Food, ABC Organic Gardener, RM Williams Outback, Time To Roam, Go Camping Australia, Sprout Magazine, One Million Women and City Permaculture.
I also take on corporate writing, content writing, editorial and communications work for government, not-for-profits, media and content agencies. My clients have included Filtered Media, NSW Environmental Protection Authority, North East Waste, My Clarence Valley Tourism, Coffs Coast Tourism and Community Early Learning Australia to name a few. I’m also the editor of tourism and lifestyle publication CLARITY – A Clarence Valley Journal.
Before becoming a fulltime writer and editor, I worked in the environment, sustainability and ecotourism sector for 15 years. I have a degree in environmental science and postgraduate qualifications in environmental education from Griffith University Qld. I’ve worked on everything from promoting national parks, ancient world heritage rainforests and conservation volunteering for the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service to working on policy and projects for climate change, renewable energy, sustainability and agriculture for state and federal governments. You can find out more about my background on LinkedIn.
These days I’m based in the beautiful Northern NSW region where the forests and farmlands meet the sea. I’ve travelled widely around Australia and find inspiration in slow travel through big sky country, walking the streets of small country towns, spending time in the garden and escaping into the world of festivals and music.
If I wasn’t a writer, then what would my story be? I’d be a beach walker, a plant nursery hand, a dusty second-hand book store owner, a pied piper, a herbal tea maker, a flower grower, a seed collector and a baker and candlestick maker all rolled into one.
What’s your story?
